If you're adding social publishing to a product in 2027, you have two options. You can integrate each network's API yourself: OAuth, token refresh, media uploads, rate limits and review processes, once per network. Or you can use a unified API that does that work once and gives you one endpoint for all of them.
This guide compares nine unified APIs a developer is likely to shortlist. Bulkit is our product and it's listed first, so take that into account. We've tried to make every other entry fair: each one links to the vendor's own pricing page, and each says plainly where it beats Bulkit.
About the prices: every figure was checked against the vendor's public pricing page between September and October 2026. We'll check them again in January 2027. Prices change, so confirm on the vendor's page before you commit.

How we judged them
What matters depends on what you're building, but the same questions come up every time:
- How does the bill grow? Per connected profile, per post, per seat or per credit. This matters more than the entry price. A SaaS product that connects its users' accounts can go from 10 profiles to 1,000, and per-profile pricing grows with it.
- Which networks? Almost every API covers the main ones. They differ on Reddit, Vimeo, Google Business, Discord, Telegram, Mastodon and Snapchat.
- Is it built for your product, or for a team using a dashboard? Some of these APIs automate an account inside the vendor's own app. Others let your users connect their accounts to your product.
- Can an AI agent use it? In 2027 that means an MCP server that can actually publish, not one that only reads the docs.
- Whose developer apps do you post through? Some APIs use the vendor's own approved apps on TikTok, Meta and LinkedIn. Others need you to create your own apps. That decides how long you wait on platform reviews.
1. Bulkit
Best for: products that connect many accounts, and AI agents that need to publish.
Bulkit is a unified API for 12 networks: X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky, Vimeo, Reddit and Google Business. The REST API is the product, and the Node.js SDK, the MCP server, webhooks and the dashboard's scheduling calendar all use the same endpoints.
- Price: $4.99/month with 500 actions included, then $0.01 per action. An action is a published post or a sent comment. Connected profiles are unlimited on every plan, and there's a 14-day free trial.
- Throughput: 600 requests per minute on every plan.
- Agents: the MCP server publishes, schedules, replies to comments and reads analytics, on the same plan.
Where it falls short: Bulkit is bring-your-own-keys today, so you create your own developer app on each network and go through its review. There are no DMs, no Python SDK, no media library and no AI content tools. If you need Snapchat, Telegram, Discord or Mastodon, look elsewhere.
2. Ayrshare
Best for: teams that want an established vendor with enterprise SLAs.
Ayrshare is one of the longest-running social media APIs. It also has the widest feature set on this list: DMs, auto-hashtags, an AI content suite and a media library, plus Snapchat and Telegram. Its Action MCP can publish and schedule, so it isn't a docs-only MCP.
- Price: Premium is $149/month for one social profile. Launch is $299/month for up to 10. Business is $599/month for 30 profiles, then $8.99 per extra profile. Webhooks start on Launch.
- Model: you pass a Profile Key for each account on every call, and your plan depends on how many profiles you hold.
Where it falls short: cost once you connect many accounts. At 100 connected profiles, Business works out to about $1,228/month. Full comparison.
3. Zernio
Best for: a few accounts that post a lot, or teams that need DMs, ads and messaging channels from one API.
Zernio is API-first and has a free tier for two accounts with unlimited posting. Its surface is broad: DMs, ads, WhatsApp, Telegram, Snapchat and Discord, a Python SDK, and an MCP server.
- Price: $0 for 2 accounts, then a per-account price that falls from $6 to $1 per account each month as you add more.
Where it falls short: you pay for every connected account. It says it can't post to Reddit at the moment, and it doesn't list Vimeo. Full comparison.
4. bundle.social
Best for: high volume, from 10,000 to over 100,000 posts a month.
bundle.social sells flat post buckets with unlimited connected accounts on paid tiers. It covers 14 networks, including Discord, Slack and Mastodon. It also has a TypeScript SDK, a CLI, an MCP server, a content warehouse and post-history import.
- Price: Pro is $100/month for 10,000 posts.
Where it falls short: the entry price is high if you post a few thousand times a month or less. Full comparison.
5. Upload-Post
Best for: a few busy profiles, without creating your own developer apps.
Upload-Post posts through its own approved apps, so you skip the TikTok, Meta and LinkedIn reviews. It lists 22 networks, including Discord, Telegram, Mastodon and WordPress. It also has an open-source MCP server with 40 tools, Python and Node SDKs, Make, Zapier and white-label options.
- Price: Basic is $24/month, or $16 billed yearly, with unlimited uploads for 5 profiles. Higher tiers go up to 225 profiles.
Where it falls short: it caps profiles by tier, and it doesn't list Vimeo. Full comparison.
6. Postiz
Best for: open source and self-hosting.
Postiz is an open-source scheduler that you can run on your own servers. It lists 30+ channels, including Discord, Mastodon, Telegram and blogs. It also has built-in AI generation for text, images and video, and preview links that clients can comment on.
- Price: Standard is $29/month for 5 channels, or self-host for free.
Where it falls short: it's a scheduling app first and an API second. Channels are capped by tier, the API has no comments endpoint, and webhooks range from 2 on Standard to 30 on Pro. Full comparison.
7. Blotato
Best for: generating AI content and publishing it from the same tool.
Blotato combines AI content creation with publishing, and it has n8n and Make nodes. Its MCP server publishes posts.
- Price: Starter is $29/month for 1,250 AI credits, with 20 or more accounts depending on tier.
Where it falls short: you're paying for AI credits even if you only want to publish. There's no comments API, analytics are limited, and its webhooks only deliver publish events. Full comparison.
8. Buffer API
Best for: scripting your own Buffer workspace.
Buffer relaunched a public GraphQL API in May 2026, and it's available on every plan, including Free. It's a good fit for internal automation around a Buffer account.
- Price: Buffer is $5 per channel each month on Essentials, billed yearly. The API is limited by request quotas: 3,000 per 30 days on Free, 7,500 on Essentials and 15,000 on Team, with a daily cap of 250 to 500.
Where it falls short: it's built for automating a Buffer account, not for posting on behalf of your product's users. Full comparison.
9. Hootsuite API
Best for: teams that already work in Hootsuite and want to automate it.
Hootsuite's API comes with a full suite: inbox, monitoring, employee advocacy and analytics.
- Price: from $99 per user each month, billed yearly. You need an active Hootsuite account and an approved developer account, and the people you publish for sign in with their Hootsuite credentials.
Where it falls short: your users would need a Hootsuite seat for your app to post on their behalf. The Publishing API doesn't post to TikTok, YouTube or Bluesky. Full comparison.
Which one should you pick?
- You're building a SaaS product that connects your users' accounts: use pricing that doesn't charge per profile. That's Bulkit, or bundle.social once you post more than about 10,000 times a month.
- A few accounts, lots of posts: Zernio's free tier or Upload-Post's Basic plan.
- You don't want to go through TikTok and Meta app reviews: Upload-Post.
- You need DMs, ads or messaging channels: Zernio or Ayrshare.
- You want to self-host: Postiz.
- An AI agent writes and schedules your posts: most of these have an MCP server now. Compare what the MCP can do (publish, comments, analytics) and which plan it's on.
- You already pay for Buffer or Hootsuite: use their API to automate the workspace you have.
What changes in 2027
- Platform prices are moving under the unified APIs. The X API is now pay per use, $0.015 per post and $0.20 per post with a link, paid on your own X developer account. A unified API doesn't change what X charges.
- API versions expire faster than you'd expect. LinkedIn ships a new API version every month and retires each one after about a year. A unified API handles that for you.
- MCP is now standard. A year ago an MCP server set a vendor apart. Now the question is what it can do and which plan includes it.
FAQ
What is a unified social media API?
One API that posts to many networks. You send one request with the content and target accounts, and it handles each network's authentication, media upload and posting rules.
Is there a free social media API?
Zernio is free for 2 accounts. Buffer's API is available on its Free plan, within its request quotas. Postiz is free if you host it yourself. Bulkit has a 14-day free trial, then costs $4.99/month.
Do I need my own developer apps?
It depends on the API. Bulkit currently needs your own app on each network. Upload-Post posts through its own approved apps. With your own apps, posts appear under your app's name and you control the rate limits, but you have to pass each platform's review.
Which social media API is cheapest for many accounts?
One that doesn't charge per connected profile. Bulkit doesn't charge per profile on any plan, and bundle.social doesn't on paid tiers. With per-profile pricing the bill grows with every account: 100 profiles on Ayrshare Business comes to about $1,228/month.
