The Typefully alternative that posts beyond X and LinkedIn

$4.99/mo for 12 networks and unlimited accounts, vs $20/mo per social set

Typefully is a great writing app with an API on every plan, but it only publishes text-first networks: X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Substack. Bulkit's API also reaches Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest and more, with unlimited accounts on one $4.99 a month plan.

BulkitvsTypefully
The short answer

Should you pick a Typefully alternative?

Only if Typefully's limits are the ones you're actually hitting. Its API is real and on every plan, Free included, so API access alone isn't a reason to switch. The reasons that hold up are coverage and scale. Typefully publishes to X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Substack, and nothing visual-first: no Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook or Pinterest. Its team plan is billed per social set, $20 a month each ($18 billed yearly), with 1,000 to 1,500 posts a month depending on plan. Bulkit is $4.99 a month for unlimited accounts across 12 networks, with 500 posts and comments included and a cent per action after that. One honest caveat: Bulkit posts to X through your own X developer app, so X's per-post API credits come on top.

Is this the Typefully alternative you're looking for?

Most people searching for a Typefully alternative want a different writing app. Bulkit isn't one: it's an API for publishing, with a dashboard on top.

This page is for you if you're:

  • A developer whose automation has outgrown text networks and now needs Instagram, TikTok or YouTube too
  • An agency or SaaS team publishing for dozens of brands, where $20/mo per social set adds up
  • Building an AI agent or pipeline that publishes everywhere from one API, SDK, CLI or MCP server
  • Hitting Typefully's monthly post caps from automated volume

Stay on Typefully if you're:

  • A writer who chose Typefully for its editor, thread previews and drafting flow
  • Posting only to X, LinkedIn, Threads or Bluesky, where Typefully already covers you
  • Relying on Typefully's X analytics, AI rewrites or engagement tools
  • Happy on the Free or $99/year Creator plan for a single brand

If that's you, Typefully is the better tool and its pricing is fair for one writer. Check their own pricing page rather than reading about an API you may not need. See Typefully's pricing →

API access

Does Typefully have an API?

Yes, and on every plan, including Free. Typefully's v2 REST API lives at api.typefully.com, authenticates with a Bearer key you create in settings, and creates drafts per social set with POST /v2/social-sets/{id}/drafts, publishing now, at the next queue slot, or at a set time. It has presigned media uploads, webhooks for draft events, and an MCP server. The limits are the network list, which stops at X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Substack, and the plan's post cap: 10 a month on Free, 1,000 on Creator, 1,500 on Business. Bulkit's REST API, Node.js SDK, CLI and MCP server cover those networks except Mastodon and Substack, plus Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, Reddit, Vimeo and Google Business.

500 posts a month across 5 brands

On Bulkit, 500 posts and comments is exactly the included allowance: flat $4.99, unlimited accounts, and Instagram or TikTok cost the same as LinkedIn. Posts to X also draw your own X API credits, $0.015 a post or $0.20 with a link. On Typefully, Creator covers one social set, so 5 brands means Business at $20 per set: $100 a month, or $90 billed yearly. That buys a far better writing experience, but no Instagram, TikTok or YouTube at any price.

Being honest

When Typefully is the better choice

Typefully is a writing tool first, and a very good one. If the words are the work, it does things Bulkit doesn't try to.

Choose Typefully if

  • A distraction-free editor with live thread previews for X, LinkedIn and Threads.
  • AI rewrites, X analytics and engagement tools built around writing.
  • Mastodon and Substack Notes, which Bulkit doesn't publish to.
  • X included in the plan price, with no developer app or X API credits to manage.
  • A free plan with API access, and Creator at $99 a year for one writer.

Choose Bulkit if

  • You need Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook or Pinterest alongside your text networks.
  • You publish for many brands and don't want to pay $20/mo for each social set.
  • Your volume comes from code, and you'd rather pay a cent per action than hit a monthly cap.
Migration

Migrating from Typefully to Bulkit

Typefully has no CSV export we could find, but its API lists every draft, so the move is two short scripts: read from Typefully, write to Bulkit.

  1. 01

Set up platform apps and reconnect accounts

Bulkit posts through your own developer app on each network. Add each app's keys under Platform apps, then connect every account once in the Bulkit app. For X, add credits in the X Developer Console first: X bills its API per post, and posts fail without them.

  2. 02

Pull the queue and map it

List scheduled drafts with GET /v2/social-sets/{id}/drafts on Typefully's API. Each social set's accounts become channel ids from Bulkit's GET /channels; each draft becomes one POST /posts with intent "schedule". A Typefully thread maps to several blocks on the X channel. Upload media first with POST /media.

  3. 03

    Dry-run with a test key

Run the import script with a bk_test_ key while Typefully keeps publishing. Test keys run every check and return the same errors as live ones but never publish, so you catch over-length posts or bad media without double-posting.

  4. 04

    Cut over

Unschedule the migrated drafts in Typefully, rerun the script with a live key, and subscribe to the post.published, post.failed and channel.needs_reconnect webhooks so failures reach you instead of a dashboard.

What doesn't carry over

  • Analytics history and streaks. They stay in Typefully; Bulkit's metrics start with the first post it publishes.
  • Drafts in progress, comments and team notes. Bulkit has no collaborative editor.
  • Mastodon, Substack Notes and X Articles, which Bulkit doesn't publish.
  • Typefully's queue slots. Recreate your posting times in your own scheduler or script.
FAQ

Bulkit vs Typefully: common questions

  • Does Typefully have an API?

Yes, a v2 REST API on every plan, including Free. It creates and schedules drafts per social set, uploads media, and sends webhooks for draft events, authenticated with a Bearer key. It publishes to X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Substack only, within your plan's monthly post cap.

  • Is there a free Typefully alternative?

Typefully itself has a free plan: 1 social set and 10 posts a month, API included. Bulkit has no free plan; it starts with a 14-day free trial and then costs $4.99 a month for unlimited accounts and 500 posts and comments.

  • Can Typefully post to Instagram or TikTok?

No. Typefully publishes to X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Substack. Bulkit covers Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, Reddit, Vimeo and Google Business as well as X, LinkedIn, Threads and Bluesky.

  • How much does Typefully cost for an agency?

Business is $20 a month per social set, or $18 billed yearly, for up to 50 sets, with unlimited team members. Ten brands is $200 a month. Bulkit is $4.99 a month for unlimited accounts, plus $0.01 per action past the first 500.

  • Does Bulkit cost extra for X?

Bulkit doesn't, but X does. Bulkit is bring-your-own-keys, so X posts go through your own X developer app and use X's pay-per-use credits: $0.015 a post, or $0.20 with a link. Typefully includes X in its plan price, which matters if X is most of what you post.

  • Can I move my Typefully drafts to Bulkit?

Yes, with a short script. List your drafts from Typefully's API, then create each one through Bulkit's API, SDK or CLI. Threads map to multiple blocks on the X channel. Analytics history and team comments don't move across.
